Loratadine allergy: I take loratadine for my cat allergy. In the past week, I start to cough a lot w/in 10 min of taking it. Could I be developing an allergy to it? ANS: yes but only way to find out is to stop. Go to drugs.com and review side effects. Tell your Dr. and ask for another Rx but if truly allergic to cat may be difficult to find med that helps.

Rather a side effect: not an allergy to loratadine, better stop it and see your doctor for assessment before trying another antihistaminic preparation. Not common, but can happen, some antihistamines can cause airways spasm, the early signs of which can be cough, you are already primed with inflammation due to the dat allergy you have.Check aaaai.org or acaai.org for more info on cat allergy and for an allergist near U
