White blood cells found in urine sample, waiting for urine cultures to come back. what does this mean?

Ask the Dr: A few WBC is normal. You neglected to include enough information for any answer. How many WBC? Symptoms? Other findings in urine? Without the answers to these questions the result of the culture is useless. There are varieties of urinary infections. For simple cystitis in a young, sexually active woman, a culture is not indicated. For an elderly woman with no symptoms the culture is useless.
