Buzzer Shot.: More than likely you are dealing with an irritated nerve. The most common site is between the third and fourth toes, but the sensation can be anywhere. If it persists, you will have to see a specialist for treatment.

Nerve: This suggests an irritable/mildly inflamed superficial nerve in the toe. If there is no redness, swelling, tenderness, there apparently is no other ongoing pathology. Avoid tight fitting footwear to see if the nerve irritability resolves. See a podiatrist if symptoms persist or worsen.

There are quite a: few potential things that could give you your symptoms. Vascular, muscular, nervous system and psychological. None of them are potentially lethal. Make an appointment with a health care provider for evaluation if it doesn't go away in a week.
