A member asked:

I sprained my ankle two weeks ago by landing on the outside of my ankle during a basketball game but my mom won't take me to the er, what should i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not the ER: A 2-week ankle sprain is usually not an emergency. A child's pediatrician or regular doctor can examine the ankle to see what needs to be done. If one has no regular doctor, look for a pediatrician or family medicine doctor who also does Sports Medicine. If money is a problem, go online to look for low-cost public children's clinics. If worried about Immigration, ask the clinic if they are safe.
