Ankle sprains: Ankle sprains are not all equal. If you have swelling, bruising and cannot bear weight on your foot then i would suggest an examination. If you can bear weight but, after a week or so it is still quite painful, i would also have this checked. For all others, rest, ice, an ace bandage and elevation will help it heal faster and feel better. Good luck.
