Not herpes: Presumably your friend was diagnosed with genital herpes due to HSV1, right? However, for sure this is not the cause of the leg symptoms. Despite what you can find from nonscientific sources online, herpes does not cause ongoing back pain, lower leg pain or tingling, etc. If concerned, s/he should see a doctor. But no worries about herpes as the cause.
