Skin infection: Sore lump usually (but not always) indicates an infection, and in your case it might be a boil. However, it is difficult to say without looking at it and examining the lump so please check with your doctor

Lipoma?: Only a biopsy can tell you for sure. But lipomas ( benign fatty tumors ) are common and can feel like you described. How long have you had it ? Weeks ? Years ? If you e had it for years and it hasn't changed you may be able to watch it. If it bothers you or if it's new or if it's growing rapidly have it excised and they will tell you exactly what it is
