Related items: A common cause of chronic eye redness is eye dryness. The tear flow drops at night so red, crusted eyes are more common at that time of day. Try using over the counter eyedrops, especially at bedtime (don't use those that say "gets the red out"). If that doesn't help, then see your ophthalmologist.
