Hi, what could cause waking up with red swollen eyes. it goes away as day goes by, should i be worried?

AM eye swelling: Swollen or puffy eyes with or without redness occurring upon awakening and clearing during the day may be due to sleeping hours without the eyelids blinking. Allergies and crying are other causes of swollen eyes. Other causes like conjunctivitis, blepharitis or dry eye syndrome wouldn't resolve awhile after awakening. An ophthalmologist can answer your question better,however.
