Unlikely: This is likely normal. However, make sure to follow up with the physician who placed the IUD in a few weeks to ensure the IUD strings are still visualized as sometimes IUD can fallout. Rarely the uterus can be perforated during placement of the IUD but that can also be ruled out if the IUD strings are visualized during pelvic exam.
