Number of Causes: The taste of blood and spitting traces of blood could be due to a number of different causes. The blood could be from a number of possible problems associated with the esophagus. A dental problem could also produce the taste and appearance of blood in the saliva. An evaluation with your primary care MD and dentist would be recommended if this has been an ongoing problem.
