Facet arthritis: You have 7 cervical vertibrae and 8 cervical nerves, each of which (except C-2) passes through a neural foramen. Irritation of the nerve root may be due to cervical facet arthritis or disc degeneration. Cervical x-rays are indicated (3 views). A cervical epiduragram or selective neurograms are indicated if pain is radicular. Sclerotomal pain may require facet injection; myotomal, DTM or TPIs.
