No!: Skiing is an activity that worsens the injurious mechanical load on a mallet thumb - an uncommon injury compared with mallet finger. Din and Meggitt describe cases of mallet thumb in Bone & Joint Surgery in which the extensor poliicus longus tendon was found to have been completely torn from the thumb in a keyboard operator, farmer and rugby player. It most often requires primary surgical repair.

Yes, but ...: The recommendations in the medical literature are not for conservative treatment but for operative repair. You should see a hand orthopedist and get their advice on treatment for mallet thumb. It's your hand.

Mallet finger: Dis a tear of the tendon that attaches to the finger tip on the top and end of ones finger, such that if it is torn the tip of the finger stays flexed down, the injury can also involve a fracture were the tendon pulls off a small piece of bone at its attachment. treatment usual is splint the tip full tie 8 weeks part time 4. wks. http://www.handctr.com/mallet-finger-baseball-finger-102.html
