Epistaxis: If the nose bleeding is profuse and you cannot stop it by sitting upright and pinching both sides of your nostrils for 5 solid minutes before letting go, proceed to the hospital emergency room where your blood pressure will be checked and nose cauterized or packed. Your throat can also be examined there.
