Infection: Could be a middle ear infection which is sitting on the one side and pain radiating to that side. If you have fever and significant pain when swallowing you may want to see dr. Likely just viral but rule out bacterial which needs antibiotics.

However, the symptoms suggest a middle ear infection with effusion and some mastoiditis and pharyngitis. Your doctor can determine if it is viral or bacterial and manage accordingly.
