I fell on 2 fingers on my right hand last night. middle finger very swollen & sore. how do i know if broken or just sprained? is a visit required?

Things to look for: If you can curl all fingers into a fist & stretch them to full extension it is a good sign. Any restriction of this is a bad sign. Any discoloration on a segment of any finger is likely a break. Failure to treat a finger break can freeze your finger in an abnormal position. Fixing it later requires delicate surgery that may not work. The choice is yours.
