You need the insulin: It is not advised to stop the insulin to get a blood sugar reading. If you want to check how well your blood sugar is controlled, you can get few readings during the day for few days at the same time; document the numbers you get, and then take it to you Doctor to adjust your insulin level accordingly I would suggest to have reading when waking up, after meals and at bed time.

Yes: That is very high. Take your insulin exactly as prescribed and follow up with your doctor if you feel like quitting. Unfortunately this is not a problem you are going to grow out of and you will likely need insulin the rest of your life.

Insulin: Depends what insulin u are on.'language is once a day dose . Works 24 hours. You need to measure your sugar before and after meals to see how the control is. The short acting. And inter mediate acting insulin has to be tsken as per doctor advice. There is no set formula. Dose has to be adjusted according to response.

Likely yes: If you have a baseline of 15 it is very likely you need the insulin but trying to manage you BSL by yourself will be very difficult. You doctor will be happy to manage this with you and explain why and what you need.

Probably: Better to know what your HbA1c is now while you're on insulin and what it was before you were on insulin. HbA1c is a better measure of control than an isolated blood sugar. See your doctor. Here is some generic info re insulin. http://patient.info/health/insulins
