A member asked:

I take background insulin (humulin i) and quick acting ( novorapid (insulin aspart)). in phase 1 i would not need to use the novorapid (insulin aspart) but what about the humulin i?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Insulin: I assume Humulin N, and novorapid (insulin aspart). Diabetes in its natural course of the disease tends to progress and likely to use more medicine is not unusual. Initially controlled with the intermediate acting Humulin N is no longer enough and body needs more help with meals, so rapid acting novorapid (insulin aspart) is added. It is standard to use long or intermediate acting insulin along with rapid acting insulin.
