Dr. Kevin Yoo answered

Is pain controlled?: Chronic pain can have flare ups so that it cannot be controlled at home with any of the normal means of controlling the pain. If the pain is debilitating and intractable, the pain cycle can be broken with IV pain medications and injections in the hospital. Workup for the pain can also be done quickly and if something is found that needs surgery, then this can also be done.
