Prednisone dosage: High doses of corticosteroids like prednisone cause serious health problems, but only with prolonged therapy. Five days treatment is entirely safe if not done repeatedly or too often. How effective it will be is another story, however. Perhaps worth a try, but often has little effect against symptoms of respiratory infection.
