Pleurisy: is when the pleura--tissue that lines the inside of the chest cavity and that surrounds the lung--becomes inflamed. Sharp chest pain that worsens with breathing is its hallmark. Most common causes include pulmonary infection (viral, bacterial, fungal), autoimmune disorder (i.e. rheumatoid arthritis), rib fracture, cancer. It will often resolve on own in a few days; but see your Doc if it doesn't:)
