Stabbing rib pain: May be costochondritis,pleuritic pain. may be gas from the colon ( the colon is upside down U) and the transverse part is high near the lower ribs, may be gallbladder or liver. May consider CXR and ultrasoudn of gallbladder. try simethecone ( Gas-X or maalox ) for abdominal gas f/u /w/ doc.
