Yes: I would go ahead and do an ultrasound to see what's going on. At this point, it shouldn't be that hard to hear the heartbeat IN GENERAL. I must say though, I've had many situations where the placenta, baby position and other factors make it hard/impossible to hear the heartbeat even going into the second trimester.
