Is it safe to take metronidazole 500mg twice a day for 7 days? for "bacterial vaginosis" at 35 weeks and 4 days pregnant, after a week taking macrobid 100mg for a "suspected uti" ?

Safe in pregnancy: Metronidazole is safe in late pregnancy for both mother and baby. And your doctor wouldn't have prescribed it if s/he didn't think it was safe. But check back with the doc's office if you remain uncertain.
