Re-check with doc: Metronidazole by mouth is usually avoided until after the 12th week at which point it is considered safe.

Commonly used: This is a commonly used medication for bacterial vaginosis. Other options include vaginal Clindamycin gel. Some doctors prefer this in the first trimester
