Is it MS: Isolated numbness in one limb would be a pretty unusual symptom of MS. Another cause should be sought. Nevertheless, in this case, a baseline MRI (using an "MS protocol") would not be unreasonable. With such a strong family history, a referral to an academic neuroimmunologist would also not be unreasonable, especially considering that mom & grandma both died young of MS.
