No: Not as necessary for coronary calcium scoring, but my radiology department thinks it is best if HR is below 80. It depends to a degree on the speed of the CT scanner.

CT Calcium Score: Computed Tomography ("CT Scan") can be used to look for calcification in the walls of the coronary arteries around the heart. The extent of calcification has been shown to predict the risk of having blocked arteries and of having events like heart attacks. It is a very quick test which does not require special preparation. The proper use of this test has been intensely debated.
