A member asked:

I keep having a reoccurrence of trapezius muscle spasms where it's tight in my shoulder and neck, what could keep causing it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cervical spine issue: Muscle spasm is often a secondary response to another problem. It that area, cervical disc issues and/or facet joint problems could be causing the muscles to spasm. Alternatively, repetitive activity or poor posture could be placing excessive strain on these muscles, causing them to spasm. Ice/heat and NSAIDs can relieve symptoms, but working w/ a physician and/or PT can help discover the cause.
