Reflux: Often prilosec has to be taken twice a day to control reflux symptoms. Alcohol,caffeine and nicotine may override the medication. Also, oily and greasy foods can produce reflux. Nexium or protonix may be more effective for this flare up. A gastroenterologist is best qualified to evaluate and treat you if your symptoms aren't controlled or the cause or diagnosis is in question.
