If gastric, yes,: omeprazole should help with heartburn rather quickly. Heart disease in women sometimes manifests with symptoms very suggestive of heartburn. Although unlikely due to timing of your symptoms, in order to rule it out, consider the following: if omeprazole does not help, then ask your doctor for a full cardiac evaluation.
