Consult surgeon: Your son's surgeon should be able to go over the surgical risks with you better that i could, and whether this could help his apnea which is unusual at such a early age!

See below: The main risk of the operation will be bleeding and infection. The risks of anesthesia are minimal, but the anesthesiologist should be board certified with good familiarity with pediatric cases. The sleep apnea will not be an issue during the surgery, and will likely be improved after the operation.
