Please don't !!!: The 500 mg twice a day should be an adequate dose for most infections. You could increase to 2 twice a day and possibly extend to a total of 10 days. But a lot of this depends on how much your infection is improving. You could also possibly continue 1 twice a day for 10 days. But I believe the best thing to do is to contact the prescribing Dr. to ask his or her advice. 3 or 4 2x/day is too much!
