Possible: It could very well be due to a muscle strain however it could be due to another pathology. This could be due to underlying infection in the hip, an abscess or appendicitis or even due to a cyst in the ovaries. Please see your doctor.

Symptomatic Treatmen: You can use moist heating pad and take something over the counter for pain like motrin or aleve if you are not allergic to those or take Tylenol and the muscle pain should go away in 2to5 days
