Heartburn: Heartburn is a discomfort of burning felt in the center of your chest and is from reflux of acid from the stomach in retrograde fashion up into the esophagus. Taking an antacid like Tums relieves the heartburn. If heartburn is frequent, it's best to visit your physician for dietary advice and treatment. Avoid alcohol, caffeine and nicotine all of which are aggravating factors.

Sx's: Burning pain that may be felt in chest, abdomen or throat that may last minutes to hours. Pain can ^ right after eating, lying down or bending over. It may feel like food is stuck in the throat or chest & swallowing may be more difficult. Bitter/ sour/ hot taste
