Determine the Cause: Without knowing how old you are, whether you have cavities or deep restorations, if you brush very hard and have recession, or even if you have massive amounts of calculus and periodontal issues, it is hard to give you a meaningful answer. If your last visit to a dentist was more than six months ago, it's time to make an appointment.

Find out: Find out what's causing the problem. Is it tooth sensitivity or gum sensitivity? Is it an allergic or atypical reaction? How long since your last dental examination? Best to see Dentist for full evaluation to determine cause of sensitivity and appropriate treatment.
