Pleural Effusions: Hi, it sounds like you may be asking where this fluid is coming from. Pleural effusions can come from different sources. It is possible that cancer or recurrence and spread of cancer can cause a pleural effusion. However, they can also come from infections, heart failure and liver failure to name some other possibilities. A full eval is warranted and may require draining and testing the fluid.
