Many manifestations.: Lupus comes from the Latin for "werewolf". The symptoms & organs it affects are potentially many, & some pts have severe cases of recurrent organ damage. When that happens, they have to be in the hospital. Damage to the brain (cerebritis), heart (pericarditis), kidney (nephritis) are some possible manifestations. The hospital stay often involves medications to control lupus immunity & rescue organ
