Strongly suggest orthopaedic consultation. If there is an indolent osteomyelitis or joint infection, surgical treatment will be necessary ASAP!

Swollen joint: Any joint swelling persisting this long needs careful evalution and treatment. WHile it may be any number of things, including gout or other arthritis, an infection is also something that must be treated carefully. This is particularly true depending on the joint involved.
