Scopy: of the colon and specially the sigmoid colon and the anus is generally done to rule out lesions of the lower colon specially if there is unexplained abdominal pain or rectal bleeding or change in your bowel movements to rule out lesions like malignancy I am sure you physician is worried about the status of your colon and will then treat your abdominal pain
