Anxiety: Zoloft can be very effective for the treatment of anxiety and it's possible a higher dose could be more effective for you. If you are not already engaged in therapy for anxiety (e.g. CBT) or other relaxation strategies (e.g. relaxation breathing, muscle relaxation, meditation) adding these to the Zoloft might be very helpful. Hang in there!

Panic disorder: is one kind of anxiety disorder, and there is not necessarily a reason or cause for it, although in some people there are genetic and environmental influences. SSRI's may work, but not all of them work equally, and if you have not had help with one year of Zoloft, you and your doctor should talk about alternative treatments. There are also psychotherapies that help, and meds that stop attacks.
