Patellofemoral pain: Your description is not quite detailed enough to be able to give you precise answers. Pain on the front of the knee is often derived from the patellofemoral (kneecap) joint. The bursa on the front of the knee can be inflamed as well. At times, nerve irritation from the low back can create pain on the front of the knee. If the pain is not resolving within 1-2 weeks, then it I would see a physician.
