Maybe fungal?: Take an oral antifungal and see if that does the trick. If it doesn't then get a culture of what it is and make sure that you get a fungal culture too. The growth medium is different than it is for bacteria!

White lesions: It's impossible to know without personally seeing the lesions. You own dentist should be able to diagnose it if he/she sees it. If not he may refer you to an Oral Surgeon. It could be any number of things and if it comes and goes it's unlikely it's anything serious. However it would be nice to know for sure what it is and then possibly preventable.
