A member asked:

When should i go to a doctor to get my blood drawn to see if i have std and hiv and can a doctor see with out my parents knowledge?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Can be done, but...: A teen wise enough to seek out special Teen Clinics that are not connected to medical insurance and not related to his or her parents' doctors can be cared for by clinic doctors without parents' knowing. Ages 16-17 are usually the transition years in which teens learn more care for themselves. That said, there is almost never a need to have sex in the high school years (sex is simply not needed).
