A member asked:

17yo girl. what to expect at cardiologist referral appt due to long qtc interval? i have chest pain and fainted suddenly last week.

A doctor has provided 1 answer
Dr. Ira Friedlander answered

Specializes in Cardiac Electrophysiology

You can expect that: he will perform an EKG and talk to you about other family members with a history of fainting, sudden death or arrhythmias. Depending on your answers he may recommend medications (beta blockers) or even an implantable defibrillator. Nothing invasive will be done when you first go for evaluation. Blood work for genetic testing could be recommended or referral to an Electrophysiologist could be done.
