Hi my fathers toe is swollen and red and poofy. it hurts with pressure. he doesn't know if something was dropped on it or anything it just showed up

Injury or arthritis : To rule out injury or an inflammatory condition like arthritis blood work and X-rays would be useful. Please see your podiatrist to facilitate this and learn to to immobilize your toe and wear a protective shoe

See doctor: It would be prudent to see a doctor as it is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examination. Two issues come to mind, 1. Gout, 2 Diabetic lesion.

See a doctor: could be a fracture, could be infected, could be gout. Once an X-ray is taken a fracture can be ruled out. HE may need to be on antibiotics if an infection is present.
