Several options: There are multiple options to help treat your acne. After your acne is gone, it can literally change your outlook on life. I had acne as a teenager, and it made me really nervous. Once it was gone my self-esteem improved. Start with over the counter options. I recommend ProActive to start with, I have seen that it really works well in patients that use it consistently. I can help you.

NOT PROACTIV: The active ingredient of Proactiv is 2 1/2% benzoyl peroxide. This is sometimes effective for acne and can be obtained in any pharmacy at a small fraction of the cost. Why throw away your money? There are several variations of acne and various kinds of people, so there are a variety of different acne treatments. See a dermatologist for best results.

Acne=infection.: Acne is truly an infection within the pores of the skin, so any effective treatment for acne should initially include both a drying agent (i.e. benzoyl peroxide) and an antibiotic (which could be topical or oral).
