Depends: You don't give your age or situation. The commonest cause might be a local peripheral nerve injury if you have had a fall or blow. However, if you are old enough to have any kind of arthritis, this could represent a spin injury for example from a compression fracture or a disc. If the latter, then you should be seen before any other effects occur. And for heaven sakes, no snow shoveling!
