A member asked:

I had my gallbladder removed 5days ago for the past 3days i've had diarrhea but the stool is supper black is this normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Black stool: Black stool can be a sign of bleeding from the upper gastrointestinal tract(esophagus, stomach, duodenum). It can also be from taking iron supplements or peptobismol. Your physician can perform a simple stool test in the office to check for gi bleeding. Of course if you become very weak you must head for the hospital emergency room for prompt evaluation.
