PROM: There are no exact reasons for premature rupture of membranes (PROM) ,but sometimes there may be an infection(strep/ STDs, or surgery( including cerclage, smoking , previous PROM, distended uterus. Were you checked for strep as many women harbor strep in the in vagina and it could be a cause of premature rupture of membranes https://medlineplus.gov/ency/patientinstructions/000512.htm
