Need to examine: Do you have fever? If you have, it could be bacterial infection and it would be prudent to visit an emergency room to rule out Strep throat. It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining you and your symptoms warrant evaluation by a physician.

Pharyngitis?: A sore throat(pharyngitis) is usually due to a cold virus infection or a strep throat. If you have other symptoms of a cold such as a runny nose and cough then Cepacol Extra Strength Throat Lozenges should help. But if you have a fever along with pus on the tonsils and/or swollen tender cervical lymph nodes you should see a physician as you may have a step throat which needs antibiotic Rx
